Winsley Suede Penny Loafer

There's a reason this shape has stayed unchanged for seventy years: it works. The Winsley doesn't try to improve on it — a suede upper, a strap across the vamp with the slot cut into it, and a mocassin seam curving round the toe.

The build is what makes it a dress shoe rather than a slip-on. A stacked heel lifts the back, and a slim dark sole runs the length of the shoe, so the profile stays close to the ground and sits properly beneath a trouser hem.

The interior is fully lined in a warm tan, with padding worked into the heel and around the collar. That padding matters early on — it keeps the topline from pressing while the suede is still finding your foot.

Best worn where a trainer would look wrong and a lace-up would look like too much effort. It handles a suit, and it handles dark denim on a Saturday.
